Dear Wheaton North High School Alumni:

The Wheaton North High School Alumni Association welcomes you.  The WNHSAA is for all alumni, faculty, friends and family.  We encourage you to invite others to join.  We hope you can make good use of this website to help organize your class reunion,  to share your ideas for improving the web site and the WNHSAA.  Unlike the commercial organizations that charge fees for access to alumni information, there is no charge for using this web site.  However, there are expenses and we rely upon your tax deductible contributions to sustain (and hopefully expand) this web site.

Hello, Alumni!

Here we are in our somewhat-brave new world.  Everything has changed, and no one knows what that world will look like in the coming months.  We at WNHSAA are continuing our work.  We hope that all is as well as can be expected with you.

As we all look for signs of hope and normalcy, I’d like to say that your Board of Directors are doing all we can to do what we always do: help the graduates of Wheaton North.  The Class of 2020 finds themselves in unique circumstances.  Graduate, they will, but how that will look is like nothing we could ever imagine.

Your Association and Board decided that we need to provide scholarships to this class as we have for years now.  We also are fully invested in participating in whatever virtual ceremonies that present themselves.

As in past years, we are awarding $7,500 of scholarships to this year’s class.  While we are unsure what the fall term in higher education holds, we felt that we should go all-in as we always do.

For the last several years, your Association has provided an average of $10,000 per year worth of scholarships and support to programs at Wheaton North.  We pass along as much each year as donations will allow.  As you have seen, we have been blessed to have helped many remarkable young people who are pursuing their paths to the future.  With the word “future” being redefined, we are especially impressed with this year’s group.  These students tell me all I need to know about the work that you support.  We will be introducing them to you in the coming days and I’m sure you will agree.

We want you to know that our Association returns 87% of all donations directly to scholarships.  Our expenses (insurance, web costs, etc.) are modest, and all of us spend many hours volunteering to make all this happen.

Of course, our need for financial support is ongoing, this year more than ever.  I invite (and ask) you to visit our revamped website (WNHSAA-org) and click on the “Support WNHS-AA)” link.  We made an effort to simplify the process and enhance the options available to you to participate.

I guess that word, “participate” is the keyword here.  We have over 2,700 members, and if each of you take a few minutes to throw in a few dollars, we promise you it will be worth as much to you as it is to us.  We here are all facing our own challenges these days, and we know you are as well.  We also know that the desire to help others is strong.  Our Association is here to provide a sharply-focused avenue for you to help close to home, literally or figuratively.  We have options available for you to chip in, from 1 dollar on up.  Watch this space in the coming days as we introduce our winners for this year.  You will see these young people and we hope that their reality changes your thoughts from the abstract.  Yes, their graduation will be virtual, but our work and our help are real.  What we have done, are doing, and will do are very real.  All we ask is that you PARTICIPATE!
