Dear Wheaton North High School Alumni:

The Wheaton North High School Alumni Association welcomes you.  The WNHSAA is for all alumni, faculty, friends and family.  We encourage you to invite others to join.  We hope you can make good use of this website to help organize your class reunion,  to share your ideas for improving the web site and the WNHSAA.  Unlike the commercial organizations that charge fees for access to alumni information, there is no charge for using this web site.  However, there are expenses and we rely upon your tax deductible contributions to sustain (and hopefully expand) this web site.

Hello, Alumni!

Fall of this unique year finds us all in a state of flux, one way or another. There are as many different stories as we have members, but Wheaton North and our Association are still standing. Hybrid learning, remote learning, it’s all immaterial as long as learning happens. We alumni are learning as well, and coping as well as we can. We at WNHSAA are continuing our work.  We hope that all is as well as can be expected with you.

As we all look for signs of hope and normalcy, I’d like to say that your Board of Directors are doing all we can to do what we always do: help the graduates of Wheaton North.  Yes, the Class of 2020 did graduate in a fashion heretofore unimagined, but your Association funded and presented our scholarships as we have all along. We were all-in this year, just as we have been all along.
As in past years, we awarded $7,500 of scholarships to this year’s class.

For the last several years, your Association has provided an average of $10,000 per year worth of scholarships and support to programs at Wheaton North.  We pass along as much each year as donations will allow.  As you have seen, we have been blessed to have helped many remarkable young people who are pursuing their paths to the future.  With the word “future” being redefined, we are especially impressed with this year’s group.  These students tell me all I need to know about the work that you support.  We have introduced them to you in recent days, and I hope you have paid attention to our posts. If you have, I’m sure you will agree.

We want you to know that our Association returns 87% of all donations directly to scholarships.  Our expenses (insurance, web costs, etc.) are modest, and all of us spend many hours volunteering to make all this happen.

Of course, our need for financial support is ongoing, this year more than ever.  I invite (and ask) you to visit our revamped website (WNHSAA-org) and click on the “Support WNHS-AA)” link.  We made an effort to simplify the process and enhance the options available to you to participate.

I guess that word, “participate” is the keyword here.  We have over 2,700 members, and if each of you take a few minutes to throw in a few dollars, we promise you it will be worth as much to you as it is to us.  We here are all facing our own challenges these days, and we know you are as well.  We also know that the desire to help others is strong.  Our Association is here to provide a sharply-focused avenue for you to help close to home, literally or figuratively.  We have options available for you to chip in, from 1 dollar on up.

You can see these young people and we hope that their reality changes your thoughts from the abstract.  Yes, our students are facing challenges that no one could have anticipated. The school itself, the faculty and administration are reacting and responding on an hourly basis. We can’t say that they are all “thinking outside the box.” There is no box, and they are all making this up as they go along. We are, as we should be, proud of them all. Their work and lives may be largely virtual, but our work and our help are real.  What we have done, are doing, and will do are very real.

All we ask is that you PARTICIPATE!
