The History:

Beginning with the 2008-2009 school year the WNHSAA was able to award two $2500 scholarships in honor of Mr. (Coach) Richard Helm and Mr. Martin Brackin. These two educators helped establish the foundation of “excellence in education” that continues to serve the Wheaton North High School community.

For the 2009-2010 school years the award was made in the memory of Richard (Rick) Reinert who was a founding member of the WNHSAA (Class of 67), Treasurer and a member of the Scholarship Committee. Rick passed away unexpectedly and his wife Linda who is a teacher at Wheaton North asked for all contributions in his memory be given to the Association.

The 2010-2011 scholarships were awarded in honor of Coaches James Rexillius and Anita Brechtel who  established and maintained the foundation of excellence that Wheaton North stands forth not only in education but in sports and competition.

The WNHSAA will be awarding one $2,500 scholarship to a WNHS Senior in May of 2014.  This scholarship will honor Laura Howell, the Athletic Department’s secretary from 1971 to 2013.  Laura’s North Carolina charm has won her numerous friends from the faculty, staff and student body.  WNHS student – athletes would often stop in to speak with Laura when they returned.  The WNHSAA is proud to honor Laura’s long tenure and dedication to the spirit  and values of WNHS.

All donations to the WNHSAA are tax deductible and you will receive a receipt directly from PayPal.  Checks may be mailed to the WNHSAA, P.O. Box 1024, Wheaton, IL  60187.

As a graduate of WNHS, you likely received a great education and made life-long friends.  We hope you have wonderful memories of your formative years at WNHS.  Your donation in any amount to the WNHSAA will be much appreciated and put to very good use by a deserving student.
